AT TBCF, THE STANDARD IS THE STANDARD
At Twin Bridges, “The Standard is the Standard” is painted in big black letters on a red wall inside the gym.
Sometimes visitors ask, “what does that mean?”
“The Standard is the Standard” means we have high expectations for our members and do things a certain way because it works best for us.
“The Standard is the Standard” means we prioritize technique above all else and are relentless in expecting our members to master the basics first.
We know that’s how they’ll stay safe, continue progressing, and reach their goals.
“The Standard is the Standard” means we understand it won’t be easy or quick, and we embrace the challenge.
CrossFit is the most fun and effective physical fitness program on the planet, but it isn’t magic. It takes hard work, consistency, and patience.
“The Standard is the Standard” means if you’re a member of TBCF, you’ve got a built-in support system.
We support one another and celebrate each other’s successes. We remember that no one is finished until everyone is finished.
We encourage our members to set big goals, and we hold them accountable for the work it will take to reach them.
If a member is new and just starting, hasn’t worked out in a while, or is battling an injury, that’s ok! What matters is challenging themselves and working hard to make progress.
“The Standard is the Standard” means we will remember there are always two things in our control…our effort and our attitude.
We will always give our best. We will never accept “good enough.”
We will never whine, complain, or make excuses.
In no scenario will focusing on negative factors outside our control change the outcome for the better. Negativity and self-pity–I don’t have time, this is hard, I don’t think I can do this, it’s so hot–are the enemies of progress.
“The Standard is the Standard” means we will practice servant leadership.
We will clean up after ourselves and leave the gym as we found it. Most importantly, we will always put the needs of others first and help them develop and perform as highly as possible.
Our commitment is that our standards and expectations will always apply to everyone equally, and we will never let them slip.
This is just some of what “The Standard is the Standard” means.
The Standard is the Standard, and our standards are very high–for our members, coaches, and myself.
But that’s what makes Twin Bridges CrossFit Twin Bridges CrossFit.
