When you sign up for a class at Twin Bridges CrossFit, we are making a solemn commitment to each other.
The Coach’s Pledge 🏋️♀️
Your coach solemnly swears to: teach correct mechanics, identify areas of concern that could lead to injury or inefficiency, and correct you in a way that makes sense so you can learn and make changes in the moment. They will prescribe loads, volumes, and any modifications that will challenge you while maintaining correct mechanics. We call this pushing your threshold at an intensity relative to YOUR situation and nobody else’s.
“Not Today” vs. “Never” 📏
YOUR mechanics determine the appropriate level of intensity. If you cannot straighten your arms at the current load after multiple cues, it cannot matter that you want to use it. The load must be reduced to a level that allows you to move as safely and as fast as possible. This is a non-negotiable! Why? Because we care about you in the long term and want you to increase your fitness AND health for years! Trust this: we want more for you than you could possibly know, which is WHY we say “not today” vs. “never”.
The Athlete’s Promise 💪
In return, YOU solemnly swear to be in this fight with us. You promise to work to understand that we are trying to help you, NOT hold you back. We want you to be curious and ask why. We expect you to not always agree with us, but you understand your coaches at TBCF will have the final say.
The Ground Rules ⚖️
Those are the rules. They are there to ensure we are administering the CrossFit methodology optimally – Mechanics, Consistency, then Intensity. This is to protect you the best we can and to prove that CrossFit–simple in theory, hard in execution–is the “shortcut” to true fitness when done consistently and appropriately over the long term.
These rules are not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s ok 🤗. But our line in the sand is thick and we will do our very best not to cross it. However, we will listen, treat people with respect, and make informed decisions based on the context
**The TBCF Commitment is signed by all new members at our gym. It memorializes the promise we, as their coaches, make to them, and what we ask of them in return. It is adapted from an Instagram post by the GOAT Denise Thomas.
